6 Questions Line Managers can use in a 1:1 Performance Review

This article, which has been posted to LInkedIn looks at 6 coaching questions that Marshall Goldsmith, suggests that CEOs can use in their one-to-ones with direct reports. This article suggests that these six questions could in fact be used by any line-manager where a formal feedback review is required. As one extensive meta-analysis suggested that one third of employees showed evidence of decreased performance after receiving feedback, it might be worth considering using new, more coaching-style questions that elicit the person thinking for themselves. Allowing this space in the conversation could make performances reviews both a more motivating process for the employee, as well as one that has a positive impact on the employee’s performance.
